Our general carpenters have advanced carpentry skills and experience, a desire to work hard with a team of highly talented craftsmen and the ability to take on progressively more responsibility.  Candidates will show an aptitude for precision, a passion for troubleshooting unique build requirements and the ability to easily absorb and demonstrate new skills.  This position offers an opportunity to be a part of one-of-a-kind, architecturally significant builds and work with colleagues who are dedicated to the highest levels of craftsmanship and quality.  

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Ensure work performed is in accordance with plans and specifications
  • Foster a positive and constructive environment onsite
  • Strive to continually learn and develop new skills and capabilities
  • Establish and maintain quality control for all phases of construction
  • Maximize materials in order to prevent waste and stay within project budget
  • Provide mentoring and training to apprentice carpenters and laborers when directed
  • Work with superintendent/ foreman to ensure the project is ready for subcontractors each day
  • Be a positive advocate for safety in action and attitude; reinforce awareness to reduce the risk of injury or citations
  • Maintain job site security (ie. ensure safety of all people, tools, and materials)

Qualifications and Skills

  • 4+ years of high-end residential carpentry experience
  • Possess the following skills:
    • Broad range of carpentry skills from framing to finish work
    • Experience with framing layout; rough framing of walls, floors and roof systems; calculating roof rafters; layout and framing of stairs, windows and doors
    • Work with full complement of basic tools and specialty tools
    • Lay out and set concrete forms
    • Read and interpret architectural drawings
    • Work at elevated heights and in confined spaces
    • Estimate materials and time needed to perform work
    • Familiarity with a variety of building materials
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safety and health procedures for location; be a positive advocate for onsite safety
  • Demonstrate knowledge of proper use of tools and equipment
  • Excellent communication, team-building and mentoring skills
  • Able to anticipate and troubleshoot problems
  • Ability to follow direction and perform work as designated
  • Motivated, dependable and trustworthy
