Payroll/HR Assistant
We’re hiring a Payroll/HR Assistant to support the delivery of accurate, timely, and compliant payroll and HR operations while providing responsive customer service to employees across the organization. This role performs administrative and coordination activities related to payroll processing, onboarding and offboarding, and HR systems maintenance. As a member of the People team, the Payroll/HR Assistant contributes to the company’s commitment to operational excellence and a positive employee experience in support of the company’s “Best People, Best Work” philosophy.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
As a Payroll/HR Assistant, you’ll be responsible for:
Onboarding/Offboarding:
- Set up new hires and terminate separated employees in all HR systems and platforms.
- Report new hire to DSHS multistate system.
- Review and complete employee I-9’s in EMPTrust and conduct annual I-9 audits.
- Adjust the status of recently separated employees in HRIS and payroll systems.
- Collaborate with Field Ops team on HR vehicle management tasks: Provide related policy signoffs, and filing accident reports
- Assist with return of company property
- Maintain employee records in HRIS system(s).
Other Administrative:
- Set up mail merges and coordinate companywide HR employee communications
- Assist with presentations and updating organizational charts
- Administer HR texting platform
- Schedule meetings as requested
- Other duties as assigned and business needs require.
TRAVEL: Occasional travel to regional offices and sites for events, training and team meetings is required. Less than 10% of time.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
To be successful as a Dowbuilt Payroll/HR Assistant you’ll need:
- 1-2 years of accounting and/or data entry experience required
- Experience with payroll, HRIS and benefit admin systems (ADP Workforce Now, BambooHR, Employee Navigator preferred)
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
- Demonstrate and support a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite required
- Experience with web-based solutions such as Smartsheet, Egnyte, Slack preferred
- Exceptional organization and high attention to detail with dedication to follow-through
- Effective in building understanding and creating trust among employees and managers at every level of the business
- Demonstrate discretion and treat all employee and proprietary company information as strictly confidential
- Be a team player with a positive attitude
- Operate with a high level of integrity and emotional intelligence

The base pay range for this position is $29.00-$35.00 per hour. Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity.
New hires typically start below the midpoint of the range, with the opportunity for growth and advancement over time.
