Business Development & Content Coordinator

Washington - Seattle, WA - Full Time

Dowbuilt is adding a Business Development & Content Coordinator to our Seattle-based team. Please note that this is a 100% in-office role. Writing samples and/or a portfolio of work are required from all applicants. 

As a member of the marketing team, this position supports the development of marketing collateral including proposals, presentations, qualification packets and other client-facing materials shared with architects and client partners in pursuit of one-of-a-kind residential projects. This role contributes to the overall production/organization of branded documents and business development presentations, and includes research, writing, design, and strategy.

Success in this role requires strategic thinking, strong writing, and proofreading skills, strong design and page layout software skills, and the ability to collaborate with project teams and principals of the company. The coordinator must be comfortable working through a multi-layered revision and feedback process while producing compelling, accurate, thoughtfully assembled materials under tight deadlines.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Strategic Proposal Development
Outcome: Advance Dowbuilt’s ability to win architect-driven residential projects by demonstrating project expertise, capabilities, and differentiators with clear, persuasive, and strategic pursuit packages.
Accountabilities:

  • Review potential business development opportunities with principals and project managers, to determine the most effective positioning strategy.
  • Analyze RFP requirements, project scope, and competitive context to craft responses that align with client priorities and evaluation criteria.
  • Understand the intent behind each request and develop responses that advance the company’s value proposition.
  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to ensure presentation content accurately reflects project delivery expertise and operational capabilities.

Proposal Management & Production
Outcome: Deliver complete, polished client presentation packages, on a tight deadline, by coordinating the proposal development process from initial request through final submission.
Accountabilities:

  • Understand the full lifecycle of proposal development, from reviewing and interpreting the original RFP/ client request through production and final delivery.
  • Coordinate the proposal approach and organize/track contributions from principals, project managers, and marketing team members.
  • Maintain proposal timelines and proactively manage deadlines to ensure all required information and materials are delivered on schedule.
  • Produce deliverables including digital submissions and printed materials such as bound proposals and interview leave-behinds.
  • Honor project NDA’s and work with the utmost client discretion.

Content Development & Writing
Outcome: Produce compelling, accurate, and well-structured written content that clearly communicates the company’s expertise, process, and value to prospective clients and design partners.
Accountabilities:

  • Write and revise complex proposal content including answers to RFP questions, cover letters, project narratives, case studies, internal resume bios, and other written responses.
  • Compile and synthesize information from past proposals, project documentation, and internal subject matter experts.
  • Translate technical project information into accessible and persuasive narratives.
  • Design supporting charts, graphics, or visuals that help communicate processes, project delivery approaches, or team qualifications.

Content Management & Marketing Collateral
Outcome: Maintain a well-organized and up-to-date library of presentation content, marketing materials, and project information that supports efficient and consistent proposal development.
Accountabilities:

  • Select project photography from in-house DAM to create presentation layouts, brochures, and other collateral using Adobe Creative Suite tools.
  • Maintain digital presentation content database to ensure accurate information is available for future proposals.
  • Gather and organize sample project documentation including estimates, schedules, and billing examples to support proposal development.
  • Contribute to the development of evergreen marketing materials and printed collateral for interviews and client presentations.

Resume & Credential Management
Outcome: Maintain clear, compelling, and current professional credentials for Dowbuilt principals and project teams that effectively communicate expertise that support business development efforts.
Accountabilities:

  • Interview principals and project leaders to capture relevant experience and professional background.
  • Write, edit, and format resumes and bios for presentation submissions and other business development uses.
  • Collaborate with marketing partners to ensure resume content remains consistent across business development materials, website profiles, and social media channels.
  • Audit database of resumes to ensure information is accurate and up to date.

Coordination, Communication & Quality Assurance
Outcome: Ensure proposal materials are accurate, consistent, and professionally presented through disciplined coordination, editorial oversight, and clear communication with project teams.
Accountabilities:

  • Maintain a centralized calendar to track proposal opportunities and deadlines across multiple regions.
  • Copyedit and proofread proposal materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency in style and formatting.
  • Demonstrate clear, concise, concrete, persuasive, and self-aware communication in written and verbal interactions.
  • Encourage proactive participation from project teams to prevent last-minute challenges during proposal development.
  • Maintain composure and attention to detail in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Required Education, Experience & Competencies
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, writing, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience creating written content, presentations, or marketing materials.
  • Strong writing, editing, design and formatting skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Highly organized and deadline-driven with strong time management capabilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro).
  • Experience with OpenAsset or similar asset management systems preferred.
  • Experience writing and designing presentations for the construction, architecture, or engineering industries strongly preferred.
  • Experience with collaborative web-based tools such as Zoom, Slack and Smartsheet preferred.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and shifting priorities.
  • Demonstrated reliability, discretion, and professionalism in handling confidential company and client information.
  • Self-directed, motivated, and dependable with the ability to manage stress and maintain composure under pressure

Compensation Range:
The base pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00 per hour. Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. 

New hires typically start below the midpoint of the range, with the opportunity for growth and advancement over time.
